Abstract: The performance of the spin-polarized electron energy spectrometer equipped with a low-voltage Mott-type spin polarimeter were made tentatively by using a ferromagnetic amorphous material, Fe,9 B,b Sib, as a spin-polarized electron source. Our measurement showed that the secondary electrons from the material polarized in spin in the region of low kinetic energy. The polarization amounted approximately to several ten percent at the kinetic energies of 2eV and 4eV. It should be suggested that ferromagnetic amorphous materials such as Fe79 B16 Si6 are excellent spin-polarized electron sources of promise, taking the relatively-high polarization reported for other similar amorphous materials into consideration.
