Abstract: We examined the ultrastructural localization of amyloid β protein precursor with Kunitz-type protease inhibitor domain (APP-KPI) in the human brains, and found APP-KPI in the cytoplasm of both neurons and astrocytes. The immunoreaction product appeared focally in the cytoplasm especially within the cluster of lipofuscin granules. The labeling pattern of APP-KPI was different from that of the APP without KPI.
