Abstract: Funeral business, which has been regarded as a growth business of great promise in aging society, is going to reach a serious turning point. The main cause is "a construction boom of funeral halls" of these years. Now the places where funeral services are performed are rapidly shifting from houses or buddhist temples to funeral halls all over the country, although there are some regional differences. The spread of funeral halls implies that the funeral service abandons many of local manners and customs. Therefore the advantage of the small (or local / traditional) funeral companies which has been committing to specific areas or communities, will gradually decrease. And the chance to enter a local market for the big (or unlocal / untraditional) funeral companies and the related industries will be growing bigger and bigger. Unfortunately for the small (or local / traditional) funeral companies, once a stream of construction of funeral hall starts to run in a certain area, it becomes a stream which can never go back and which increases the speed.
