Abstract: In this article, I would try to elucidate the function of human imagination in epistemology. In genera lusage of the term ''imagination'', most people think it is a kind of power fbr an artistic performanc eor a moral sense. On the other hand, beyond the importance in general usage or meanjng, imaginatio hnas importan ftunction isn epistemology. It will become clear in modern philosopher sar'gument, in theory of knowledge or judgme noft David Hume, Jean-Paul Sartr eand Immanuel Kant .Especial liyn Kant' saccount of imaginatio nI ,claim tha tit sproductiv aend schematizing functions are essential for human knowledge in tense (pas tp,resen tand future c)ognition. In other words, all cognition occurs in time and thus is subject to the stmcture of temporality. Yet there is a limi tin Kantia ntheory ,Whether we can obtain a richer view beyond Kant or not depends on how we can solve the problem with dualism in epistemology.
